Carley
A Foundation Built on Heart and Natural Ability
German Shorthaired Pointer · Female · Foundation Dam
Registered name: M&N Carley Jo May
Carley’s story at ALACIE began with a conversation Ryan has never forgotten. He purchased her as an adult from a guide in southern South Dakota who was battling cancer and stepping away from his operation. What began as a trip to buy a hunting dog became hours of conversation. The man has since passed away, and Ryan still thinks about that visit whenever he looks at Carley.
Since coming home, Carley has hardly left Ryan’s side. If he is on the property, she wants to be close. That connection is a large part of who she is: a devoted companion with the drive and natural ability to work hard in the field.
Carley is a bigger female who covers ground with enthusiasm and holds a beautiful natural point. She loves retrieving and water, and her experience includes both upland and waterfowl hunting. Her field ability, combined with her close bond with Ryan, has made her an important part of everyday life at ALACIE.
Carley was never campaigned in tests or trials. Her contribution comes through years of actual hunting and the qualities she has passed to her puppies. She and Max produced a litter of nine, with every puppy naturally pointing, retrieving, and swimming by ten weeks of age. That litter remains an important part of her legacy.
ALACIE retained their son King as a future sire prospect. Keeping him carries a piece of Carley forward—her bloodline, natural ability, and the black-and-white coloring that makes him stand out.
One final litter with Max is planned before Carley retires from the breeding program, with timing still to be confirmed. Whatever comes next, her place at ALACIE is already established: a trusted hunting partner, a devoted companion, and a foundation dog whose influence will continue through the next generation.
